COMCAST reports that small businesses have been dealing with the ongoing impact of the pandemic, social unrest, and environmental events. Small businesses owned by people of color have been some of the hardest hit. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, between February and April 2020, the number of active Black-owned businesses declined by 41%, Latinx-owned businesses declined by 32%, and Asian-owned businesses dropped by 25%, versus just 21% for the general population.
Comcast RISE was created to invest in the success of these critical businesses by providing valuable and practical support. In March, Comcast RISE announced $5 million in grants to 500 businesses across select metropolitan areas. Each business received $10,000 to invest in its own growth and sustainability. The grants were awarded in May. A 2nd round of funding with an additional $6 million in grants to 600 businesses was awarded in November, and Papichulo Style was one of the four winners in Connecticut.
Selected businesses will receive, soon, one or more of the following elements:
1) Consulting: Advertising and marketing consultations with local marketing, research, and creative teams to gain insights on how to grow your business.
2) Media: A linear TV media schedule, over a 90-day period.
3) Creative production: Turnkey production of a 30-second TV commercial, plus a media strategy consultation and 90-day media placement schedule.
4) Technology makeover: Computer equipment and Internet, Voice and Cybersecurity services for 12 months. (Taxes and other fees may still apply for tech makeover services.)
Papichulo Style is a company founded by Sebastian Cardona, a Latin entrepreneur who leads a diverse team of professionals. "We're honored! Receiving this Media grant is important to us because the media exposure will allow us to spread the word about Papichulo, our American brand boosted by Latin power, especially in these difficult times," said Sebastian.
The TV spot produced by WeiguoVisuals, will run for 90 days in Connecticut on the Comcast-owned Networks. "I'm extremely happy knowing that thousands of people are going to get to know our brand, and knowing that the products that gave me my self confidence back, are going to help others to do the same and make them look great!. It doesn't matter if they have crazy, impossible hair, and a patchy beard like me, because with our 3 tag teams of products: Hair Styling, Beard Care, and Shaving; you could win the fight against your hair, while supporting this American entrepreneurship from Wolcott, Connecticut." said Sebastián.
Here is the TV Spot... Enjoy!!!
